I started reading the "too pat to open" discussion for Scarlet Begonias and thought I'd throw this into the mix. Okay, I'll open with the traditional "love the site" that I see so often on the site. This note from a reader regarding some 2002 developments: Subject: Annotated Scarlet Begonias Keith and Donna Godchaux covered the tune on The Ghosts Playing in theHeart of Gold Band. Robert Hunter recorded the song on his Box of Rain album. Two days later, the group began recording From the Mars Hotel, on whichthe song appears. Itappeared in the first set, between "Black Throated Wind" and "Beat It On Down the Line." The show also included the first "Cassidy," as well as the sound test for the famous "wall of sound" system.
